wtf?

Questions I have been asked and answers I have given.

what’s up with the pin up girl?
I like pin up girls, motorcycles, high heels, jack daniels, punk rock, hip hop and books that don’t end happily.  what you got?

what the hell is ‘boston shaker’ anyway?
the boston shaker is the first, and most widely used cocktail making device in the industry.  having been a bartender for a huge portion of my life i tend to put projects in to service industry terms, it helps me keep things in perspective.

why do you work at a larger agency if you do this?
i like working with people, having them in the same room, being able to bounce ideas off someone besides my other personality.  i also like working with people who don’t need much more than me, so I get to cover both bases.

you teach too?
indeed, I teach a Master’s course at Emerson College.  it is extremely rewarding and something I plan on doing for a long time.  It adds a level of complexity to my schedule, but, sharing this stuff with thirsty grad students who often are applying it as they learn in the real world is exhilarating.

what are the easiest first steps for a small business to execute to get online?
buy a domain name with a registrar like: network solutions, Yahoo! Small business, register.com etc… The worst feeling the world is to get everything ready and THEN realize the domain name is not there. What you want may not be available immediately or at all, be creative. If you don’t have an online presence already, don’t sweat the small stuff. Then, start thinking about what the primary goals are you want to achieve and how budget might impact them. you may want to do 20% of all your business online, but if the budget isn’t there to support it in a phase one schedule, e-commerce may have to wait. And of course, – I am always happy to help!
